My ten fingers and me
Hello everyone, I am Milica, textile, interior designer and decorator. I always say about myself that I am the creator of both living space and various objects that make our life more beautiful and better. I want to present to you my sincere love for textiles, what creation, creativity, independent work means to me and all the ways we can cooperate.
What you can expect from my products!?
Handmade is the first and perhaps most important feature of my work. The connection between design and craft is a very close and important thing. A hand-made product has a value that no machine-made or serial product can ever have!
Each material is tested before use: it is washed, exposed to higher temperatures – iron, checks the color fastness, which guarantees the quality of the final product. This is a very important process for quality, because it means that every product created in Milica’s Textile studio will last a long time.
Techniques in making products – in addition to quality sewing and precise tailoring, I also use: hand folk embroidery, artistic embroidery on a free-motion machine, patchwork, printing, weaving-interlacing, etc.
The unique production of the product means that each item is made in one copy. In that case, you can be sure that you have a piece that will not be repeated as such. Upon request to multiply the design, it is possible to make such products, but in a limited number.
The deadline is quite different and depends on several factors. You can get a more precise answer to this question after we discuss what kind of product you want. The time of creation of one piece handmade is much longer compared to industrial and serial production, but this item has a much higher value.

A girl who was born to be a textile designer
A school that lasts a lifetime and never ends
As a graduate textile and costume design technician, I want something more than fashion design. At that time, you could still find good and quality magazines that I regularly procured and made collages. My interests in photography, art objects, creating various installations, decorating the space definitely prevailed for further education to move in the direction of the interior.
Now I am a graduated interior and furniture designer and after completing the “classical” education begins a period of much more serious school – practice and professional development. I can say that this school never ends, but it is not an obstacle that cannot be overcome.
I decided to invest on my own and start the world of textile practice. That way is quite difficult, but very valuable. Such an experience is extremely important for every designer, because in that way he knows his right path and will reach the point where he can do everything he imagines. It is important to discover new techniques, but also to push your own boundaries.
The desire to create a "generational product"
Working in sales, constant work with clients, participation in the development and management of projects as well as the constant development of my skills led to the moment when I wanted to start my own work. It had to be original, textile and handmade. Dedicating time to precision, accuracy and quality makes sense to me. As people’s reactions to the first products were great, the desire to create their own brand was born for the first time.
From the very beginning, I strive to create and create generational products. I called them that because I believe that only such a product has real value. The name itself already gives a fairly clear description. I’m talking about items that are so high quality that they can be used for years.
At the beginning of 2015, M DESIGN was created. My first products were the most beautiful blankets, rounded off with the “Live With Nature” collection. These are pieces that instantly make your home divine, but they can also warm you up great. I have to admit that even today I am often asked when soft and woolen blankets will be on offer again.
On one occasion I met my first customer and when a woman came to greet me and brag about how they still use blankets after many years and that it is still in excellent condition, it was one of the moments when I received confirmation that I was on the right track. In the following years, the collections “Energy” and “Love Mystical Balkan” were made, as well as many projects made to order.
With my creativity, I have always tried to make interiors unique and a more pleasant place to live.
For success, the most important thing is always the desire for personal development
Development and personal satisfaction are much more important than what someone else will say about you. If the progress is good, it will be noticed in creativity as well. However, if we talk about what society and eminent people say, then there is one award that I am especially proud of.
Balkan Architecture Biennale – BAB23 won fourth place for textile cover in the category – furniture design.

BAB is an international manifestation of contemporary architectural and design creativity.
“One man show” - at least in the beginning
The job of a freelance designer is not a classic job that has a fixed work schedule. This job uses all your time, so it often happens that you don’t even know what day it is. Constant work, improvement, ups and downs, the thought that tomorrow you will turn everything off and stop working, as well as guest invitations and interviews that put you back on the road and raise your faith in yourself, these are all situations that accompany you every day. There are also those moments when everyone tells you that something is impossible to realize, and you know and you are sure that it can, even though you have never done that part. With hard work in the end, you still succeed.
There is one desire that has never left me, and that is the need to design and create with my hands. These are special moments when the idea flows from the head through the hands and fingers that make these magical movements until they create something special. That feeling pulls me to get up and helps me move forward when it’s hardest.
Running a serious story or creating a brand on your own means complete leadership in all fields – from conceptual design, design development, management and participation in production, presentation and distribution, as well as all forms of marketing. In 2021, I was ready for a fresh start. A brand new name better describes what I do and my personal approach. This is how Milica’s Textile design & decor was created – a studio for design and handmade textile items for interior decoration.
